Question 1997 PA Ultra

We are wondering if there is a common problem with the battery drain. Also having problems with going over half throttle. It starts shuttering and shaking, tac jumps around sporadically and service engine light comes on if you are pushing it hard going uphill and sometimes even on level ground if you are getting on it over half throttle. It will go highway speeds just fine, just can't romp on it to pass or anything. We have a code reader OBD2 but can't seem get the code, it drains the battery and wipes the codes so we have to keep starting over. There is little icons on code reader but not sure which ones come up if any. Any ideas?

Re: 1997 PA Ultra

The first thing you need to do is to check the alternator output and battery condition, under load, not just with a VM. Most parts dealers (Advanced & AZ) will do this free. Second, be sure all power & ground cable connections are clean & tight. The PCM controlled cars are very sensitive to low or irregular voltage and also low voltage will cause all kinds of problems with the DIS ignition controls.
