What do you think about this? (current plans)
I've been thinking about just saving up, biting the bullet, and ordering an engine from Nippon. I'm going with the D16A6 to replace my old one but I've heard those engines are from right-hand drive cars, what modz will I have to do to get it to work with my left hand drive car? I still have my old engine to pull parts off of.
I've also been thinking about an Exedy clutch, heard really good things about it. Along with a short-throw shifter. Is there anything else I can do for some decent performance, I'm just wanting a really reliable car but I'm wanting some low-cost performance. |

sounds like a good plan, as far as other modz you can do for basic performance, I/H/E sounds good to me

Sounds like a good idea. I dont think there is anything you have to do different, or else it would be alot harder to do a ZC, b16a, etc. Im almost positive my replacement d15 was a japan engine, and there nothing different about it.

the reason I asked about modding the engine to work was I got some wierd answers from a guy in the chat room about the harness being backwards, but when I asked where I could buy a new one from he said I didn't need one (that was DropShop btw) what gives?

yeah..that's the only difference is the harness going the wrong way...but you've still got your ex harness, right?? if so, you're set.
btw...this is kinda far, but I've got a rebuilt a6 with like 15k on it sittin in my dad's shed in NJ...I dont wanna ship it, but if you've got a way to get up here and feel like takin a ride, I'll get rid of it cheap.

ah..that sucks...well, keep a look out for a si/ex/hf harness then.... b/c even if you do get a jdm engine and it has a harness...9 times out of 10, the harness is gonna be cut and is pretty much useless anyway..

well, I called the only junkyard that can get me an A6 and they said the one they had earlier they just sold, but they can get me another one for the same price ($600) with about 120k on it and it was "questionable". I doubt this project will ever get finished and all of the good parts are gone so I've probably milked it as dry as I can as far as selling parts.
