I bought my 2004 S80 T6 Oct 2004. It was Darrell Waltrip's personal demo (he has a Volvo dealership in Franklin, TN) w/3000 miles. I have driven it on numerous trips, get between 28 to 30 mpg at 70 mph, 31-32 at 68 mph. I'm 6'2 and weigh 250 lbs. This car is very comfortable for me on trips but sits lower than my Jeep Liberty Diesel therefore a little inconvenient to enter exit but not impossible. I have all options except multi disc CD. Car runs flawless. Change oil & filter at 5K intervals. Dealer has performed all scheduled services under warranty program and now has 35K miles on it with very few problems. Rides smooth and handles like a sprots car. Is says 93 octane but I have successfully run 89 and 87 alternating every other fill up. My wife averages 23 around town, drives 30 miles to and from work, but 20 miles of that a day is interstate, 10 miles is not. Still, for the size car, large, comfortable and fast the mileage is great. Dealership shop manager and service writers are really great and conscious of customer needs. Sales manager and my salesman were easy to do business with in buying. Pay attention to lot financing as it will have a prepay penalty but they will match your lowest interest rate offer of financing if you can prove it. I had Cap One financing lined up at 5% and they matched it with proof. Great car after 2001, but do avoid like the plague 1999 and 2000 models, as they have numerous electrical problems and were pre-Ford who bought Volvo and injected tons of money in it, taking the quality up substantially. Would consider the 2007 S80 or XC90 later in the 2007 model year if I get the itch to trade next year.
