Re: power windows

First, is the motor drawing current? Easy test is to turn your lights on at night and see if they dim a little when the button's down. If not, get a schematic of the system and start gremlin hunting.

If they do, slam the door really hard with the button down a couple times. My driver's side window sticks when it's hot out. If the motor has a bad brush the slamming will sometimes get it to catch. If that doesn't work you can tap on the motor itself with a big screwdriver and a hammer. (with the button down) It's about 4 inches down and 2 inches in front of the switch and has a round, finned, cast aluminum case. Just gently pry the switch up and look through the hole in that direction.

Edit: help with gremlins... If both switches won't activate it you know you're somewhere before both switches or after both switches. If the other windows work it's something after both switches as there is a black ground wire and a brown hot wire coming into the driver's switch that exclusively serve all the windows. So it's the dark blue or brown wire from the passanger switch to the motor or the motor itself. It's unlikely both switches are shot, so I'd start testing with that section of wiring and the motor.

Re: power windows

Anyone know what the ballpark figure is to get a power window repaired based on the following?

when pressing the switch you can hear the motor of the power window mechanism, it will not pull the window down but will push it up, it seems to me that something has disconnected that grabs the window.

Thanks in advance.

Re: power windows

It Could Be A 500$ Repair. The Window Regulator Is A Cable System And The Down Cable Is Busted But The Up Cable Is Kind Of Ok.
You Need The Window Regulator/motor Assembly Replaced.
