My Pick-up rides ROUGH!!!!!!

I recently bought a 2wd 1984 Toyota Pick-Up , I love the truck but it rides rough.What would help???????My back is starting to HURT.
Tires?Shocks?Springs?Every bump I feel.New Seat? Please help a newbie!!!

Amen to that...I have the same problem and I live on a bumpy dirt road. I don't know if the shocks are too strong or too weak. I'm about to add air shocks to the rear which will not help the problem. Is this a common problem for this year pickup?

I hope its not all of them. I took A look at the shocks and I think they are the original!! Anyway Im going to replace them and then see how my a$$ fells.

I hope you'll let us know if new shocks fix the problem. One way to check the shocks is to try to bounce one corner of the car(either by pushing down real hard or jumping up on the bumber and pushing down ...good shocks will stop the bounce in one or two oscillations, bad shocks will keep the bounce oscillating 3,4,5 times before it stops.

I used to do this on old VW's, which didn't have springs, but I'm not sure how well this test works on the Toyota pickup.

welcome to a soild axle truck. they ride rought try the shocks then get some good suspension seats well thats if u dont wanan do anything to the suspension

i have an 83' 4wd and i have the same problem i was told to change my shocks
