if i had a 383 stroker......

i have plans to build a 383 stoker and put in my 91 siverado extended cab. i want to put either a th400 or th350 in it with a 3.73 rear end posi. i know it wont hook up to the track with that kind of power and set up. i neeed some ideas on how i would get all that power from the motor to hook up in the ground. i plan on pushin either 400 or 500 ft. lb. of torque

If all that is knowledge up front for you, which we have know way of knowing based on your question, what else are you looking for, the proper convertor will allow just so much low end torque based on your set up to control wheel spin, but you covered it all, maybe ft shocks with some ability to rise quickly and remove the front stabilizer bar for better weight transfer.

will shocks that let the front end go up fast and let it comer down slow really help weight transfer my dad told me about some of this stuff but i was skeptical ohh and sorry if i offended yall i just though i already said some of that stuff

Re: if i had a 383 stroker......

If you're out to build something hot and have got the money and time, there was an article a year or two ago in a magazine I read (either Super Chevy or Hot Rod) where a guy took a short bed K1500 and put twin turbos and other unspecified mods onto his stock engine. He then found a K2500 (don't remember the year) and took the front differential and transfer case out and put them in his truck (heavier components for the added torque.) He claimed 600 horses and ran a verified low 11 second 1/4 with it. If you really want to plant alot of ponies with a truck, having the front wheels pulling as well would be the only way other than the usuals (most of which you wouldn't want on a truck unless it never gets used as one.) Of course all of this is moot if you're talking about a 2WD, but you didn't specify.

Re: if i had a 383 stroker......

Yes they make shocks that extend faster than return, had them on a camaro I built years ago, helps transfer weight to the rear on launch, but you need to call and talk with a tech about the weight of the vehical when ordering, you need to be very specific, I believe they are called ratio shocks, if the ratio of extention is to fast you pull the front wheels way off the ground and for too long, and if the ratio is not enough you dont get the benefits needed.
same for when the shocks contract.
It's been more than 20 years but I think I remember 60-40 or 60-20 for my camaro with a big block, but I do remember they helped alot on hookup at the track but were a bitch on the street, had to punch it a bit just to get up a driveway,
also had ladder bars to keep the rear end straight and under that beast, funny thing was my Dad as well was who clued me in on the shocks.
I doubt you'll need the wheelie bars, even with 600 hp, with a good set of slicks and shocks you may get just a bit of air under the fronts but once the weight shifts back to the front "maybe a second" you'll be back down and gone.
I can say that after I finished those mods to my car the first launch puckered my butt hard, but after that being pinned to the seat was my favorite thing about that car.
