Cool How about a fast lap of Monza in a longtail F1 GTR?

http://auto-presse.tv/news.php?action=view&newsid=24268

Here's the translated description:

Quote:
With a McLaren F1 GTR on the ring of Monza

13.03.08 - From the perspective of a Formula-1 pilots a round on the race track in Monza to experience, enables a new video of motor vision. This was in a McLaren BMW F1 GTR a camera installed in the cockpit and a round on the route of the Grand Prix of Italy shot. The nearly two-minute video shows thanks parallel circuit camera ride the curve, both from the perspective of the driver and the drivers themselves (www.motorvision.de).
Not sure if the date implies when the actual video was shot or just when it was added to their website - it must be somewhat recent (within the past few years) as the tobacco advertising ban in Europe didn't take effect until at least 2001 as I recall. With no race number on the flanks and white mirrors, it's also difficult for me to be certain which GTR this was. Anyway, it's a good video we should all enjoy!

The sound is wonderful and whoever shot and edited the video did a very professional job.

I was bored and made some small screenshots from it:

New to me. Thanks Erik.

Must have been filmed at the same time as that VOX GT1 clip you have from Monza. Early 97. As one car ran with white mirrors, the other with blue bits on top of its mirrors. Its a wonder the model world has not produced this livery, Yet.

Edit, just had to laugh, GTR with white mirrors goes into chicane, comes out with red bits on top!! is it me, or have I had to much wine with my dinner. Check the screen shots above.

I really don't think it would be that early given my comments about the Marlboro sponsor banners hanging around the track. Certainly back that far they would have been complete with the name, don't you think? The one thing I will say that backs up your theory is the driver's racing suit is definitely a period item. I can't tell by the helmet who is at the wheel though.

No you aren't drunk or crazy - that is definitely bizarre. I totally missed that until you said it.

The driver is Steve Soper.

It would be really nice to think, that this was done recently, with a GTR lapping Monza in that time, just for fun.

In this video, some of the clips are very similar to that VOX clip you have.

Check the single seater race car graphics on the the add boards. They are Marlboro McLaren if I,m not mistaken., of that period.

Brilliant video though
