water heater pipe nipple thread count and size?

Hey,
I'm broke down here in Texas and the water heater pipe nipple snapped off in my intake. I'm going to use a plumbing torch and some Pblaster and an easy out and try to get it out. If I can do this, I am planning on just putting a plug in it for now as tommorow is Sat and I can't get the correct part 88891732 till Monday. Anyone know the thread count and size? I suspect it's 1/2 NPT.

THANKS!!!!

Hi
My 97 was npt so you can get a tap to clean out the threads at a hardware store.
I got my replacement at NAPA and also Kragens/Checkers/ Shucks had them.
Mine is up front so it was fairly easy to get to.
I think yours is toward the rear which adds to the work.
Good luck,
Bob B
