1998 .626, tranny or electrical problem?

my '98 .626 has been doing this thing where it hesitates sometimes when pushing on the gas. it can be really bad when trying to make a left turn and the car doesn't want to go at first. it only seems to do it when the blower is on, and far worse when the air conditioner is on. i took it to a place that said the tranny is about to go, but that place seems rather shady. it also seems to have a hesitation right around 48 mph. can it be the tranny since it mostly only happens when the fan or a/c is on? i don't think i ever saw the tach shoot up when it hesitated, and there's never been any problem putting it in park or reverse. also i put in a new battery in february.

Re: 1998 .626, tranny or electrical problem?

u r model 626 is notorious for having tranny problems.Something about metal incompatability issues in the valve body.I had to put a tranny in my 98 626 v-6 ES at 48,000 miles(under warranty). How long since car has been tuned up?Only other thing I can think of would be needing a tune up.Find a reputable tranny shop with an ASCE certified mechanic and have them look at your car before u spend big bucks on tranny repair. Re: 1998 .626, tranny or electrical problem?

so the next day it wouldn't start, so i'm sure that has nothing to do with the tranny. the place i had taken it to wanted to put in a new tranny, do a tune up, and change the spark plugs. i put in new spark plugs and wires, and now its running perfectly. i'm rather shocked that it could have been that simple, but i'll take it. hopefully it will stay fixed. thanks for the reply.
