when i bought the 4 door it strated up just fine and kept an idle. it just had a hella loud knocking sound and the check oil light was on. so we towed it to a friends house and pulled the d15b2 yesterday. this is what i saw:


i have never seen a hole like that and it still runs. apparently it threw a rod and the piston is up in there stuck. as Habib said "that piston decided to have a party while the other 3 worked".

the plan is to drop the a6 in on sun. i'm looking forward to actually be able to drive the 4 door i'm actually really happy about the whole swap. the 2 of us had the d15 out in an hr :jump:

That is a large hole. Well I guess that is why the knocking sound was so loud. The motor was only running on three cylinders. I am so suprised it was still running with that big of a hole in the block. Hehe

Where are you finding all these sohc vtec motors ami!? I cannot find any! Even my local motorshop said they dont have any laying around with less than 100k on them

i'm dropping in my d16a6...stock from the Si. it's "issues" should be resolved. it has 120,000 miles but it also has all new gaskets, seals, water pump, thermostat, head was completely rebuilt & machined....yada, yada, yada. bottom end has 1 cylinder wall that is grooved...but i'll take grooved over a huge HOLE anytime

if you would like, i can look for a z6/y8 for ya. i just found one for a local guy who was having troubles too

Wow... so you weren't in the car when the rod went? I threw a rod in my moms old tercel by revving it too high trying to pass someone... it was quite a site to see...

A loud bang, followed by a ton of sparks flying out the left side of the hood, then a bunch of smoke... The engine died when I pushed in the clutch to pull off the road, but it started up again and idled really funny

That was a night to remember for sure

i dunno. this is the problem with my honda addiction. i bought the car to fix and sell. however, over the last 4 days...i'm starting to think otherwise.

it's AT. i haven't owned an AT civic since my '86 that i had 8+ years ago. we all know the MT is the modern street racer's tranny of choice. but i don't plan to race this car. if anything i'll do the complete opposite of the Si and stick on some airbags and load it with audio/video equip.

then again, i'm sure 2/3 of NHRA can't be too wrong if they all go with AT.

i dunno guys...i just dunno. i'm female and it's my right to change my mind every 15 minutes :licker:

yeah, show cars are sweet. By the way, a little update on your taillight problem, I found clears for the 4dr! Actually myfirst4g found em, but i will rummage for the link. I aint getting em (with the ticket and all money is gonna be tough)

LOL, i might just keep the 4 door because it's already fitting in with it's "issues"

for the fun of it i looked up the error code it was throwing....code 16. a fair assumption is say oil pressure. nope! it's fuel injector wtf?!?! ROTFL!

anyone with a 4 door knows who makes a good exhaust? mine rusted completely off and only like half the piping remains.

I dont have a 4dr but if i did i'd get a thermal r & d exhaust , which is probably what im going to get for my hatch someday.
