Re: brake lights HELP!!!!
All the wiring for the rear lites exits the truck at the bottom of the cab in the rear.Check it to be sure that no wires are cut or frayed. Also check bulb, would be rare for all to fail at once but could happen.BJ

Re: brake lights HELP!!!!
you might want to check the wires going to the rear to the back of the lights they could be corroded or chaffed wich would cause them to do so

Re: brake lights HELP!!!!
Ever get a malfunctioning part or item in a new box, if not, you're lucky. He still needs to check the new switch (with ignition switched on) - using a test light or voltmeter - that he gets 12 volts positive on one side of the switch, then gets 12 volts positive on the other side as well when the brake pedal is pushed down. If he doesn't get any 12 volt positive to the switch, he needs to work backward, like checking the fuse, need to consider the circuit like water in a hose, need to find to find the reason the current is not flowing to the switch on the pedal then. If current passes through the pedal when pushed down, then check for current at the brake light bulbs with the test light or voltmeter. Also make sure the light fixture makes good ground contact. Also check any in-line wire connectors, especially if someone has sometime jury-rigged up trailer connections. There likely is a multi-wire light connector under the truck bed. Hell, bring it to Arizona, I'll fix it !!!

Re: brake lights HELP!!!!
Even stranger than that-the automatic tranny Mazda pickups have the tranny lock mechanism wired into the same circuit so if your dome lite or brake lites blow, u cant get the truck in gear with out using the emergency override.Weird. Glad u got ur ride fixed. BJ

Re: brake lights HELP!!!!
On the drivers side of the tranny shift lever "box" in the cab of the truck there is a small square "plate" with a small slot at the top. Open that with your nail or a small screwdriver and inside is a red lever that you can push to free your tranny shift lever iuntil u get ur lights ar fuses replaced. When u get the blown light or fuse replaced the lever snaps back into the off position by itself.
