General Weight Reduction.

I was curious in what all ways I can reduce the weight of my car. For instance, aren't most aftermarket products lighter than stock products, as example would be perhaps a racing header be lighter than your stock header?

Thanks for any information.

Re: General Weight Reduction.

It depends how serious you are about weight reduction and if you're really serious about losing weight for racing, for instance if you dont drive other people around or care about what your car looks like and you need a lighter car for racing, you could completely gut out your interior, remove the passenger seat, the back seat where you sit on and the back part of it, remove the spare tire and scissor jack and anything else back there, as for aftermarket headers being lighter then stock, im thinking NO because most aftermarket ones are bigger then the stock one, i bought a Pacesetter 4-1 header and length-wise it's probly almost 2x the size of the stock one. You can get lighter internal engine stuff also like pullies, pistons and piston arms. You could always spend $1600 on an all carbon fiber racing seat too lol Or get light rims that are for racing, I hear Motegi has some nice ones. That's all i got off the top of my head. My buddy has a Civic and all he has inside it is basically 2 passenger seats and a big ole' bottle of NX in the truck, from where the back seat should be, it's all the steel flooring, not even the carpet.

Re: General Weight Reduction.

Remove the air conditioning, all audio stuff, rear seat, passenger seat, power windows, get a light weight racing seat, remove all carpeting/ sound deadener, spare tire/ jack/ tire iron.

Then get a carbon fiber hood, trunk, fenders, body kit, doors, lightweight racing wheels.

That should get you started.

Re: General Weight Reduction.

Just a thought, how much do you think a z24 w/out convertable would weigh if you took out EVERYTHING you dont need and got cf hood, trunk, fenders, doors, 1 all cf racing seat and light weight wheels?
