Transmissions
I am starting my project 96 TSI AWD. First thing that needs to be done is changing it from auto to 5 speed. Im looking at building the motor to at least 500hp. Will the stock 5 speed be able to handle the hp? Or is there a better transmition for the job?
If this has been posted before, im sorry. When i search the forms my browser times out and I do not get any results. Thanks |

Re: Transmissions
It might... I wouldn't try it though. I am deffinatly getting a sheppard built trany before I try to reach my goal of around 550hp. You might want to check this site out. http://www.sheptrans.com/stages.php?vid=dsm This guy is the man when it comes to transmissions. I am probably going with a stage 3 rebuild btw.

Re: Transmissions
Remember dude, this swap is not going to be fun. You are going to need to get a new harness, the clutch pedal, a clutch, tranny (I second the Shep tranny), the whole shifter assembly, shift cables, blah, blah, blah. My buddy was going to swap the auto out of his boosted white GS with the manual out of a RS. It was such a difficult/frustating swap he just took the engine from the GS and put it in the RS. I would just get a manual car or deal with the auto.
