Spun Bearings in Balance Shaft

I have a 95 Talon TSI that has a front ballance shaft with a spun bearing on the inner-most bearing. The Balance Shaft Removal Kit has plugs but with a spun surface, the plug is undersized. I believe I can remove the access screw to the oil gallery, measure the size of the oil gallery hole, order a precision ground dowel pin and plug that oil gallery hole. Has anyone tried this?

I had the same situation, and thought about doing that very thing you described. Also thought about tapping the oil galley hole and plugging it. In the end I just used bearing retainer (I got it from work, but I am sure you can find it somewhere else), and that piece isn't going anywhere.
