Looking to buy a car, i can spend $12,500. I do NOT want ford, GM, DSM, and any other throw away car. I'm not looking to race but I would like some pep. Has to be kinda new about 2000 year. Been looking at the following:

2001-03 Jetta 2.0L non turbo... 115 horse power.. think that says enough

2003 Lancer OZ Rally...haven't test drove yet but 122 horse....

2004 Toyota Solara...60k miles a lil high for me...

2001-2004 Corolla S... none really around and quite small

2002-2004 Acura RSX... can't find

thats basically about it, car has to come from a dealer and the dealer must be semi local. any suggestions welcome, again im not lookin for speed jsut something that would be as fast as my talon!

To be honest with you, I really 2001-2004 Corolla type s, or just 2001-2004 corolla, its really smooth car, and no problem, really great on gas too. get in and drive.

Hmmmm.... a little bit of power, 2000+, and less than $12,500. Damn Mike, arent making this too easy on us are you . Know what I'd get? A 7th gen Celica. I think those are pretty bad ass and IIRC the GTS is like $8,000. Something like 160 hp and 6 spd manual. Not too bad for a NT 4 cylinder.

I like the RSX. Its an Acura (I'm a big fan of Honda/Acura) plus it has a K20 so its a good platform if you ever want to mod.

What about a wrx 12k was about the lowest i found before (i was trying to find one for my sister) and thats the advertised price so you could talk them down i'm sure.

2002 or so WRX. Should find some that low. Good cars, not the greatest tranny's though. You'll be fine if you don't launch all the time though.

How about a Scion tc? I think those are pretty basass cars and they aren't too expensive. Otherwise I agree with Thor and get a celica.

Of your limited (and mostly pretty sad) choices, I would go with the RSX.

Scion = gay

Celica = nice, almost like a sister to the Eclipse/Talon

How about a Honda S2000? Should be in your price range, and it packs a punch. After I get fed up with my DSM and move onto something else, that will be at the top of my list of cars to consider.

My mom has a Solara...there quick as shit, if you get the V6. The cars weight hurt it though..sucked in rain and snow. At high speeds the cars steering became very very touchy..very easy to put in a bitch. 3417 lbs!
