s-10 clutch bleeding problem
I have 1985 2.8 liter s-10 I have replaced the master and slave cylinder,and
now in the bleeding process. The problem is I have tried every thing I could find on bleeding these systems and no luck. I did have a bad master cylinder and exchanged that, it was leaking around the push rod seal. Now I need some suggestions on how to get the air out and pump pressure to disengage the clutch. If any one knows how to do this I would appreciate the help. thanks trave. I almost forgot pumping the peddle 25 to 30 times and holding down doesn't seem to do it. |

Re: s-10 clutch bleeding problem
Sounds to me like you have air in the master cylinder...if you have a hand vacuum pump, hook it up to the slave, pull some vacuum and open the valve til the vacuum drops, this should pull that bubble out and get you started.

Re: s-10 clutch bleeding problem
Can you easily remove the line from the slave cylinder?
If you can place a catch pan under and remove it. Get someone above to keep the master cylinder full. When it's just fluid flowing out put the line back on. It's now bleed to this point, and the little remaining air will hopefully rise out soon. |

Re: s-10 clutch bleeding problem
I just went through this 2 times now, I had to replace the slave cylinder in my GMC 1500 and now I've replaced the master cylinder and slave cylinder on my S10...
I found it bled Better when I did not place the cap on the fluid reservoir. Strange as it sounds and it almost defies most logic but it worked! Give that a try.
