Yep, care to elaborate on what you are trying to accomplish? No offense, but there are some common issues on the Taurus related to the EGR and the DPFE sensor. I'd hate to have you remove the EGR trying to solve a problem that is commonly caused by something else.
If you'd like to private message me with an e-mail address for you that can accept PDF attachments, I can e-mail you a PDF file of the service manual steps for removing the EGR. -Rod |

I am removing the valve because the "check engine" code stated the valve was faulty.

The offer still stands to e-mail you the PDF procedure for EGR replacement.
I would suggest that before you replace the EGR valve, you post the exact code you are seeing on this thread. -Rod |

Re: EGR Valve 2000 Taurus 3.0
I agree with Rod. You need to diagnose the concern before you replace parts. Would you please post the code you have gotten from the vehicle? If it is a P0401, or a P0402, the EGR valve is probably not at fault. Also there is a vent valve in the system and carbon build up in the EGR ports will also cause problems and a trouble code. There is NO CODE that will tell you to replace a part. The parts are replaced after careful diagnosis.

Thanks for the advice .. once the "check engine" light comes back on, I will have the code read and post here.

A scanner should be able to read history codes and let you know if there is a code even if the light is not on.
