Dial-up or broadband?

Hi guys,

in addition to MPWR's poll I'd like to know which connection you are using. My guess would be that the majority uses broadband....but I may be surprised

Thanks for voting

Cheers Seb

Re: Dial-up or broadband?

I was the first to vote for dialup, there were 18 votes before me for broadband. I'm toolin' along at between 28,800 and 31,200 bps. I'm out in a rural area where the houses are too far apart to make Roadrunner feasible, I'm too far from my telephone switching station to make DSL worthwhile and satelite internet is too expensive an option for me at this time. I'm waiting for our local phone company (Verizon) to install FiOS in our area. They started early last year and hopefully in a few years they will get to us.So in the meantime , I guess I'll have to wait it out.

Re: Dial-up or broadband?

I'm just wondering why the poll got moved, as it was my intention to see how many users of the modeling forum use dial-up, but still want full pics in threads??? Mods?

Cheers

Re: Dial-up or broadband?

It wasn't me but, I assume it was moved because it was not related to the forum it was originally posted in. If you want to survey a particular forum's members then you should have explained better what you were up to, otherwise it could be considered spam. Remember AF is a busy place and has an enormous number of subforums to keep things organised.

Re: Dial-up or broadband?

Polls about connection types have also been done in the past in other forums. Here's a link to one done in Completely Off Topic last year - http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...alup+broadband

Re: Dial-up or broadband?

Uuuups...I thought stating a connection to MPWR's poll was enough to let everybody know that it's directly related...guess I wasn't too clear.

O well, it doesn't matter much anyway 'cause in his poll 100% of the voters want full pics...

Re: Dial-up or broadband?

I have broadband. I've been having it since '99 (on and off). Cox is pretty damn good, but im not sure if its better than Comcast. I can't really tell the diff anyways...
