I'd recommend the viscosity listed on the underhood sticker, and/or the owner's manual.....I'm pretty sure it is 5w30, so I'm not sure where your friend got his information....Glen

I've got a 2004 and it takes 5W-20 all year around so check your owner's manual. The tolerances are very close in these engines.

Re: 5w-30 oil? for odyssey 2001?
About 95% sure they changed the recommended viscosity between the 2001 and the 2004 models....they're always trying to lower the parasitic friction, so you need to make sure you use what they recommend since they've likely changed bearing/bushing clearances.....Glen

Todah raba for your help and concern.
My fried's argument is: The sumer is coming, and the viscocity they sugest is already thin, whit the intense heat from the sumer the viscocity comes even furder down, exposing the engine on to hi levels of fricction and subsecuent HEAT. BUT you right, i'll chech the steakeer under the hood, and go whit that. Todah raba. |
