Post 89 Baron, Overheating Problems

Hey, 89 Baron, 280kms.
So I got the thermometer changed a week or so ago, and having problems with it overheating again. When driving, 90km/h, it would be overheating constantly.
So I took it in to mechanic shop today, and got told that the water pump, header needs to be worked on, and a few other things I didn't understand. When asked around what a price would be, was told around $1300. I'm assuming that's for all of that to be done.

What I'm wondering is should I shop around, and should I try and just get the waterpump changed first, and see how that works before I get the other things done?

Re: 89 Baron, Overheating Problems

Sounds about right...it's about $600 just to get the water pump and timing belt changed. You have to get them both changed at the same time....unless you are lacking in brain cells. It's mostly labor that will be the killer. Together the parts are maybe $150 to $200. So....the header and "other things" could easily make up the other $700.
