compression
ok my new projcct has 12.5-1 pistons. i want to know how much i can safley deck the head to bring the comp. up as much as possible? i was thinking .035

I wouldn't do it, 12.5 is plenty.
Decking the head will retard your cam timing, to recover you would need adjustable cam sprockets. You may also not be able to run the cam you want b/c of clearance issues caused by decking. Do what you want, just remember... If you give a mouse a cookie... |

sorry i didnt mention i have fidanza cam gears and crane 24's oh and this retarding the timing....its very minimal and can be corrected with my gears.
and 12.5-1 is plenty for you....not me. |

you are aware that when you have to retard your ignition so much to get away with your high compression on pump, you are hurting power. its all a compromise.
