i could be wrong / aka: my car may be possessed

so i replaced those injectors on my 89 crx a couple weeks ago and suddenly the car ran great and fine for a while.

this past tuesday, i was driving around town running errands. my car started just fine in front of each of about 3 or so locations i had to drive. then i stopped for 5 mins, and when i got back to my car it wouldn't start. i though "well, crap... maybe the main realy is broken in addition to the injectors i replaced."

i jiggled wires in the relay, unplugged it, inspected it, plugged it back in, and the car still wouldn't start. i recall someone saying that an old relay will fail temporarily because of heat, so i let the car cool down with the hood open for 20 minutes. still wouldn't start. i pushed it to a COMPLETELY flat place and it started on my 4th try. i still can't quite decide if the angle of my parking spot has anything to do with this sporatic problem, because i can't isolate it, and usually it starts fine. perhaps 25, not 20 mins, was what the car needed to cool down. it ran fine after that for a while.

last night i rounded a sharp corner and applied the brake as i did. i wasn't going fast. i've never had a problem with this curve. my seatbelt light starts flashing and the car starts BEEEPing at me like it does when you first get in and turn the key on, but it wouldn't stop. my seatbelt had NOT come undone, and beyond that the seatbelts aren't even plugged in to where the car would be able to detect anything.

while still driving, i quickly turned they key off and on as i've done MANY times to reset the ECU and try to turn this light off. the car suddenly was not running. just VROOOOMMMMMM and slowing down slowing down slowing down, so i quickly pulled into the gas station i was about to pass. car started after sitting for 5 minutes. i didn't touch a thing in the engine bay.

what on earth? is this my main relay?

if so, i stand corrected.

Could be the main relay. Hell, I don't know. My car just locked up for no damn reason. If it cost more than what a replacement engine cost to fix, I'm selling the bastard as is...

Edit: Shop fixed my car. It was a broken timing belt. But it didn't damage anything. Apparently, it must have stretched and then snapped because the car had lost power first then died, not like as if the belt had just snapped apart. Weird.

Do you have a check engine light? If not, could be mechanical problems. It'll be harder to locate the problem. If you can't do it, then I suggest you take it to the shop and save you alot of headache.

yeah, i got a check engine light, but forgot to see what code i threw that night.

i avoid taking my car to the shop. the only time i did was for the timing belt, cause in addition to there being room for error, i couldn't get the crankshaft pulley off to take the belt off.

Just food for thought....

IF you ever work on taking out the harmonic balancer, use the 1/2 inch impact gun and it'll take it off real easy. You wont break a sweat

So you have a check engine light, check what code its throwing and find the problem. Let us know how it went
