Clockspring...Broken wires???

Just got my van back from the dealer. They supposidly fixed the transmission and gave me another 12,000/12 month warranty on it...Time will tell.
The clockspring is a recall item and it was fixed before and lasted 1 day so I asked them to fix it again. They said no matter what they do the air bag light stays on and I must have a broken wire issue going on somewhere.
Now you know I have NO FAITH in this dealer so my question is....Has anyone had this problem. If the air bag light stays on does that mean the air bags arent going to work? And where can I look for this so called wiring issue. He said in my steering column...?????
Oh they got me for almost $600 bucks for the tranny, speed output sensor and trying to fix the clockspring..Less then $60 parts, the rest was labor..
Oh they said it doesnt throw any codes either.....

Re: Clockspring...Broken wires???

The first thing you need to do is to find another dealer in your area. There are scanners that read air bag codes. If the light is on then they should be able to scan the air bag computer and find out what is wrong. If the clock spring was replaced nothing says it hasn't gone bad again. The wiring for the air bag system runs down the steering column and is also located throughout the vehicle. If the light is on the air bags may not work if you are in an accident. I suggest you get it looked at again and soon.

Re: Clockspring...Broken wires???

Would it go bad right away? As they said they DID replace it but it wont stay fixed....My recipt just says replaced clockspring...says nothing about the fact that it came back to me UN FIXED....
I am so tired of dealing with crooked people who just dont care....I will find another dealer but isnt there anyone to whom I can complain about this?
It is a recall item...shouldnt they have to find the reason it wont stay fixed?Or no?

Ditto what GTPDad said. If your dealer was silly enough to tell you your vehicle has no codes with an ABS light on, it could also be that they didn't properly replace the clockspring (or maybe at all?).
