Ford 7.3l Powerstroke Turbo on a DSM

I know a guy who wants to put a turbo from a Ford Powerstroke 7.3 Turbo Diesel on his 95 gsx and i was wondering how hard it would be to get it to work and what power it could make on a dsm or if it would spool. The only thing i know about the turbo is that it has a 1.15 turbine housing and turbine wheel.

Thanks

You're talking about putting a V8 diesel truck turbo onto a 4 cylinder car motor....IF it fits up correctly, good luck getting it to work right. Not worth the effort IMO.

Reading skills are essential...he just wants to take the turbo from the truck and put it on his 4g63.

You can't just slap on a MASSIVE turbo and boost the shit out of your car. You will need fuel and supporting mods. Read the FAQ page and go to www.vfaq.com and read up.

I dont think diesel turbos are the same as gas turbos. I wouldnt do it, just get a bigger normal turbo.

Re: Ford 7.3l Powerstroke Turbo on a DSM

People run the cummins turbo diesel (dodge trucks) turbos in DSMs. The HX30 or 35 turbos are from these trucks. IIRC, when I looked up my truck's HX35 it was similar to a 60-1, or 35R. Airflow in the low to mid 60s. One company put a bolt on turbine housing on it. You can bet the AR on that housing is DSM appropriate though, a 1.15 is certainly not.

That thing will most likely lag like a bastard, and who knows how the turbo/car will have to be modded to fit it up. Not worth the effort at all IMO, considering the large selection of properly sized turbos available to us.
