Thinking about buying a 05 T&C

I am thinking about buying an 05 T&C. Just wondering if you all had any opinions on them?

The one I am looking at is Certified Preowned, and has 18,000 miles on it. for around $17,000.

Thanks,
Bcubed

Not that all dealers are the same but, you may want to take the word "Certified" with a grain of salt. I was looking at a used Camry at a GMC dealership in Palmdale, Ca that was "certified" and supposedly had a 120 point inspection. I walked around the car and found steel cord on a tire staring me in the face. They replaced the tire, I bought the car (daughter fell in love with it), a week later I go to change the differential fluid and found damned near zero fluid and no evidense of a leak. I also found a cracked brake flex line. Certified or not, either do a very thorough inspection yourself or let a trusted mechanic look at it.

I would be curious why someone would get rid of it in the first place. Were the ash trays dirty? Or was there something else.

Re: Thinking about buying a 05 T&C

You didn't mention if you are looking for a Short or Grand (long) model.
A brand new SWB should cost $17,000 (that includes sales tax and rebates).
The Grand can run from $21,000 to $47,000 depending on options.

$18,000 for a used van is way too much, unless it is a touring model.

Re: Thinking about buying a 05 T&C

I would disagree , if it is a full length T&C and not a SWB version then that is not a bad price . If you go look at new LWB versions you will see a lot of them cost from 27000 to 32000 brand new so a LWB verson with less than 20k for 18 grand isn't that bad...

Re: Thinking about buying a 05 T&C

Congrats sounds nice , have a 2004 LX and it has almost 40000 miles on it now , so far nothing but brakes for the van and changed the tranny fluid even though the severe schedule doesn't reccomend until 60000 miles now and I do have the tow package with the additional coolers. Can't take the chance given the 4 speeds previous history.

Re: Thinking about buying a 05 T&C

If I get another mini-van now that my 4 kids are grown, I may give Kia a try. Either that, or I'm going back to Toyota. I'll miss my GC's size, ride, capacity and creature comforts, but my total cost of ownership is much higher than anticipated (3 trannys in 10 years and many other minor, though costly, issues).
