factory radio problems

Hey Guys , anybody having any problems with the cd head unit ?
Mine is the Monsoon unit ,Also my second unit . The cd quit tracking and the volume operates backwards sometimes and the display blanks out occasionally .
I have read on some other sites that these are common problems with GM radios in general .
Has anyone replaced a monsoon with an aftermarket radio and retained use of steering wheel controls ? were there any major problems in the swap ?
Rob

Re: factory radio problems

When i had my grand am It did simmilar things to what you are describing, (Backwards volume control, Screen blank out whern it gets warm). I never switched it with an aftermarket deck but I found that you would need an interface to retain the function of your steering wheel controls I think like $50 and that only works with decks that have a remote control mostly pioneer. You might want to call up a local automotive audio shop and see what they have to say.
