Enzo Side Intakes
Hey, I can't figure out what all the intake on the Enzo are for. Could somebody please tell me what those huge upper and small lower side intakes are for?

Re: Enzo Side Intakes
Upper is probably for engine cooling or air intake, lower one is for brake cooling.

Re: Enzo Side Intakes
hehe yea. As for the intakes, thats what i was thinking, that the upper is for the engine intake, but that changed when I saw this picture
![]() In the upper right, you see how the huge scoop is bringing air to that radiator or cooler thats mounted right on the wheel arch? Its the one with the steel braided lines. So yea, that would mean the lower intake would have to be for the engine, but then again, could a 660 hp V12 breathe through those small intakes?

Re: Enzo Side Intakes
I think the big one's for a radiator and an intake. if you look at the top of the engine, you can see the intake leading to just in front of the radiator. I'd be willing to guess that they're taking intake air in and passing the rest through the radiator.

Re: Enzo Side Intakes
yea I guess so because Ferrari did something similar with the F50. You, know how the F50 only has two lateral ducts in front of the rear wheels?
Look at this pic ![]() Its the same thing, there's a radiator placed infront of the intake, and the engine intake box is just over the radiator. But wouldn't that cause the F50's V12 to suck in hot ambient air? As for the Enzo wouldn't letting the air pass from the intake get rid of some of the ram air effect?

Re: Enzo Side Intakes
you can see where the airboxes are, those top ones probably feed both the airboxes and the two oil coolers, the radiators are front mounted. i'd imagine the lower ducts are for brake cooling.

Re: Enzo Side Intakes
lol, yea they probably divided the upper intakes to give air to the air intake boxes and the smaller coolers as well. But the F50 im just lost. Because in that drawing the radiator's taking up the whole opening, and a 500 hp V12 can't breathe by sucking in ambient air from the engine bay

Re: Enzo Side Intakes
The front two intakes are to cool the radiator and the top two side intakes are for the engine's air intake alone, and the bottom two side intakes are for brake cooling.

For an even more direct comparison, look at the Maserati MC12. |

Re: Enzo Side Intakes
Front and back bottom ones are for brakes. big side ones are air intakes and flow to raidiators.
cheers

![]() About the MC12, From looking at the engine it seems as though its getting air from 3 intakes. The snorkel, and those two intakes that are right above the huge side intakes (you can see them on the far left and right in the pic), and those two intakes look about the same size as the Enzo's lower side intakes. So Im guessing that the MC12 also uses the huge side ones for smaller radiators, while using the other two smaller ones for the engine, and since its meant to be a racing car, they probably threw in a third intake, that snorkel on top to force even more air into the engine.
