Cherokee HELL-P!!

I recently bought a 98 cherokee sport.....and I played with things I had a blow speaker and the replacement turned into a whole new system. After I got everything put back together I am having a few odd problems, the electric locks where only working some of the time. This cleared up after a few lock/unlock cycles), however now my ABS light is on, it doesnt come on right away.....Car starts, all lights come on (test), then they all go off. Once I have been driving for maybe a few minutes the ABS light comes on and stays on. I have also noticed some random things like I think the window controls on the passanger side dont work now but I am sure they did last night when I put it all back together?? Is there some sort of master computer that could be alittle frazzled after having the battery disconnected/reconnected and so on a few times?? Well I will really appreciate any help, I really dont have the money to throw into the dealers pocket...especially after I went and bite off more then I planned on the stereo project.

There is a computer that takes a little time to reset after the battery has been disconnected but as far as I know, your locks, windows and ABS are not tied into it. It only operates engine function so it may run rough for a few minutes until the computer relearns.
If you had the door panels off putting new speakers in, maybe you didnt get a wire for the locks/windows connected back securely or something got pinched when you put everything back together You probably removed part of the dash panels putting the receiver in and standing on your head fishing wires under the dash. Maybe you pulled a wire lose under there.
Sorry, not much help as far as what the problem is but I dont think its a computer problem.

Re: Cherokee HELL-P!!

Ray sounds like you have done that before there was a few times where I actually got alittle panicked thinking that I was stuck!! Upside down, on my back feet over the seat tugging wires behind my head Tkey I will look into this computer testing, I read on another post that it only tells engine data if that is the same thing they were talking about. I did run all new wires.....anyone know where something for the abs system could be hiding? I just wanted to add that icon in....it seems fitting when dealing with car problems like this.

The passenger window problem is the driver's door switch or door harness. The part that controls the child window lockout. There are many posts on this forum about this one.

Re: Cherokee HELL-P!!

Hey thanks for all the help, I figured it out. It was a bad connection with the wire harness and the door controls. I cleaned the connecters really well, and it all works....I still have the ABS light comming on, but I am willing to except that maybe it could be valid until I can spring for a mechanic check up.
