Cool I'm back / R32 Millenium Jade street racer.

Hi guys! I'm back for those who remember me from the past. I've been out of the modeling scene for some time now, 'cause my mother was struggling with cancer, and i lost all my motivation. But she is getting better now, and i have regained my ambitions again by lurking here for a week or so.
ANYHOW
This will be my latest project, a R32 Skyline, painted in model colour worx millenium jade (not intended to copycat steve's R33). I will be detailing as much as i can, from references i find, but here's the start.

As you can see, the paint is a bit rough, so i will sand it down a bit now, add a mistcoat and then go for the clear.

that's it for now, later.

Re: I'm back / R32 Millenium Jade street racer.

I had time today to polish it out and wax it
(Watch it, the pics are humongus)

To my great dissapointment, the paint under the clear is textured. (the clear is almost mirror smooth). Should i strip the paint and do it all over again? Modeling sure hasn't missed me ^^
Later, Zlaja.

Yeah, I would say strip and paint again. Looks like you got some crazing. And by the looks of the last pic, there seems to be a lot of "stuff" in your paint.

you melted the plastic, stripping it will do nothing. the plastic is etched, you're going to have to sand the plastic flat again

Did you use primer? it's a must, It should be thinned perfectly.

Steve is right, a good primer is a must. Both I and Steve have used this colour without any problems.
If the problem persists and you run out of paint, let me know and I'll send you some more free of charge.

Paul.

Re: I'm back / R32 Millenium Jade street racer.

I can only suggest that if you redo it, spray several very light coats with 5 minutes between each coat. This is the first problem I've encountered. Maybe its not compatible with that brand of primer. However it is very unusual.

PM me if you need any help.

Paul.

Re: I'm back / R32 Millenium Jade street racer.

I think its 'cause i did a too heavy wet coat. But it's alright, trial and error u know.

Re: I'm back / R32 Millenium Jade street racer.

I tried out my theory of too heavy wetcoats on the bonnet, and now i just laid down mistcoats and some heavier mistcoats, and then drained the thing in clear =) it came out like this

it looks good! and gundam; your slogan for the paints should be "If you want to achieve p-shine without too much fuss, then choose us!"
