Post Fujimi Mercedes Benz 190E Evolution II

*NO PICTURES*

Started working on the car today (as I'm waiting for the airbrush and can't finish the Sierra without it).

Sanded off mold lines, sanded the body and the chassis and some of the front suspension (well, everything I won't be taking over from the Debis version).

Attached mirors

Attached rear wing

Attached the front splitter

Filled the hole in the underside that's supposed to be used for the electric switch

Prepared the interior for painting

Unfortunately, just as I was about to start panting it started snowing... And it's -25 degrees Celcius outside anyway

One thing I would like to say about grey (silver) plastic - it sucks! It was so easier with the white Debis body (RIP) I mean you can't see if you have removed the mold lines or not. Also the quality of parts seems to have dropped in comparison with the Debis car - quite a bit of excess plastic on some parts, and the little "bridges" that attach the part to the tree are THICK!!!

I decided I will be using the seat and the steering wheel from the Primera kit, as well as the Primera roll cage (which, btw, is FULL and BEAUTIFUL!)

Also did some work on the decal front: had my friend scan the decals from both the Debis and the Berlin 2000 kits for me to be able to work on them more easily. Also emailed a guy from the US who's selling the Studio 27 Schumacher decal set if he could scan the sheet for me One needs to have hope!

Another update coming as soon as I finish the interior (except the rollcage) and prime the body. Which will happen as soon as it stops snowing (but probably not today)

I work with Alpina B7 Fujimi kit right now and Tamiya's quality MUCH better!
Parts fit poorly and need to be filed a lot. Plastic parts weak in sprue attachment points. I cracked windshild when detached it from the tree
The most annoying was lack of hole in rear suspension strut for control arm pin(!). Strut is too delicate part to cut square hole in it but I did it
and finally suspension alignment looks uneven.
Interior parts have lot of fitting problems too.
I didn't have such problems in Tamiya's recent kits

NEVER BUY A FUJIMI!

Guys, maybe you could give ma a few pointers on how to scan a pic (or a decal sheet in this case) so that it remains the same size as the original (any idea what I'm talking about?) I have beautiful scans, but they are HUGE! What I want to do is edit the graphics, add stuff, and I want it to come out from the printer pretty much the same size as the original. And no, I don't want .pdf files

Thanks

Just downsize it!
Change the sizes to that of the decal sheet!
It all depends on the resolution you scan at!
72dpi is web quality! Anyone know the dpi to get it the same size as the original?

You can downsize DPI setting before scan
or if it already scanned just do what Dan said

Pics! Pics! Pics!

I know I can downsize it, I'm pretty comfortable with Paint Shop... But that's after scanning. You wouldn't happen to know what DPI would give the 1:1 ratio when scanning?

Thanks, Warren.

Today's progress: it's been snowing all day so there wasn't much I could do. Until evening, that is

Primered the chassis, painted it. Wondering if I should go with white floor (inside) - the car is white and is supposed to be a stripped race car The underside will receive another coat of semi-gloss black, though... Tomorrow.

Front suspension primed and painted.

Almost the whole interior primed and painted.

Been playing around with the Primera rollcage. It will take some work, and not all of the parts will be utilised (at least I visualize it this way at the moment). The Primera seat fits quite well, steering wheel attachment will take some creativity (and I've got a lot of it).

I will probably not beusing the parts that are supposed to go on the inside of the doors. they are from the road car and will look like sh*t. Instead, there will be the white of the inside of the body and the X -s of the rollcage. Tell me what you think.

Heven't done anything to the body - it's too dark for something that important. Just washed it...

Oh, haen't heard from the guy with decals... may he burn in hell! j/k

slotted brake disks

OK, this is one of those cut first and see how it fits later situations: which way are the slotted disks (rotors, for you overseas ppl) supposed to come on? As in which way should the slots be facing?

P.S. front and rear suspensions complete, floor is white

didn't think I've forgotten this one, did you?

The interior has been finished for several months now and the body has just been stripped down. Here's a pic of the interior. Everything except for the rear panel and the dashboard has either come from the Nissan Primera ki or has been scratch-built. Enjoy and comment
