1/12 '57 Chevy Bel Air *PICS*
here are some pics of a Monogram Chevy Bel Air that a friend of mine found at a garage sale for $2.00!! i dont thing it could get much better than that. the engine was started but thats all that was done. most of the parts were still on the sprues. let me know what you think of the finished product.

that thing must be huge, can you take some pictures of it next to a 1/24 or 1/18 scale model so i can see exatcly how big it really is?

Not too many domestics on this board, and I'll warrant it's the first 1/12 domestic we've seen on this board (not to mention first 1/12 car model!) Fantastic work, I love the color!

Fantastic job cosmo.
The light blue suits perfectly in the old 50/60 style, with the chrome parts all over de body. Classic model. |

![]() "Scale" is the size ratio of a miniature model to it's full size equivalent. Hopefully, the model has proprotions equivalent to those on the real thing, just smaller. The scale is what tells you how much smaller they are. "1/24" means that for every 1 unit on the full size object, the scaled down version would be 1/24th (or 0.0416667 times) of the same unit in the same dimension. Basically, you can take any measurement and divide it by the scale's denominator and get the measurement for the same part of the model. Make sense?

you could imagine that it would take 24 models placed end to end to match the length of the actual car if the models are 1/24 scale. likewise, it would take 12 models to match the actual car if the models are at 1/12 scale.
here is a quick and dirty schematic -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- full size 1/1 -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 1/2 -- -- -- -- -- -- 1/4 -- -- -- 1/8 -- -- 1/12 -- - 1/16 -- 1/24 basically, the larger the denominator, the smaller the scale of the model. what math geeks would call an inverse proportion :silly2: |

are you saying in your schematic that they (they as in model car companies) make 1/4 scale and 1/2 scale models??
or was it just to get the point past?? if they do then that would be SWEET!!:silly2:
