Question exhaust question....

well guys im a newbie to sport compacts so excuse me if i sound dumb. im wanting to put a aftermarket muffler on my 96 neon and i dont have much of a clue as to what sounds good on these cars (trying to get a noticabe sound increase but with more of a mellow tone, not like a pissed off weedeater). i have a 80 series flowmaster that was mounted on a v6 camaro ( factory location....crossflow...single in duals out w/tips mounted at the corners of the rear bumper...kinda like a v8 camaro ). will this muffler work on my neon... and will it sound like crap ???

Re: exhaust question....

Well if you are going for looks, you can get a Vibrant exhaust. It's stainless steel and the dual tip look to it. Some people have upgraded their neon to 2.5" Dynomax piping from the factory 2.25" and put on a 50 series flowmaster and had some custom tips put on. Both sound nice and not like the "angry weedwacker!" Stay away from the pacesetter cat-back exhaust, it's crap! I have a post on here about it with pics. Borla also makes a nice muffler for the neon that mounts in the factory location and has a nice mellow deep tone to it.

Re: exhaust question....

well guys i finally got around to installing the flow and to my surprise it sounds awsome. the depth and tone of the exhaust are very noticable without being too loud, and would lead most people to believe that the neon has tons of work done to it when in fact it has nothing but the flow.
