Oil Pan Gasket ... To be? or Not to be? That is the question!

Ok ... so im a little bit concerned here .... I know that the stock OEM gasket kits do NOT come with an Oil Pan gasket. My aftermarket gasket set came with a gasket. When i put the gasket on, now the oil pan leaks a little bit. Now what should i do? Put my oil pan on metal to metal, oilpan gasket metal, or oilpan RTV GASKET MAKER metal? Need a little help here to figure out which would be best to stop leaks? Also would it be easier if i just put some RTV GASKET MAKER around the outside of the oilpan where it touches metal to fix the leak ???

Yeah, just gaskets tend to leak. On Mike's car, we used a gasket and RTV and it worked good. I would just put a bead of RTV on it, no gasket.

They came with rtv from the factory (well something like that) ultra grey is the kind you should use an 1/8th" bead all the way around and around the bolts should do, I had a gasket on my talon and it leaked like an sob.

EZ hit it on the head, Permatex Ultra Grey. This is actually what the factory uses, and it's even made by permatex. I got some from my brother who is a mitsu mechanic, and I can not tell the difference between the Mitsu stuff and the permatex ultra grey. But back on topic, I just use that, and no gasket. The gaskets usually do end up leaking.
