I can think of two possibilities.
1) The solvent of the wash dissolved the body paint. In this case, use water base acrylic for the body, which is painted with enamel or lacquer based acrylic. 2) If the surface is coarse, you can't wipe off the excess paint cleanly. Polish the surface before applying black wash. If washing technique gives you a hard time, try thinning the paint to water-like consistency, apply a small amount of paint at one end of a groove with a fine brush, and use capillary action to let it flow along the grooves by itself. Usually, paint wouldn't flow all the way, so apply another drop from the other end. |
