valve cover gasket

Yo what's up? Recently I purchased a 96 gst 5spd and when I would go WOT the car would stutter. So I looked around on the forum and figured I would change the plugs and wires. So I picked up some accel wires and bosch platinum plugs. While I was changing out the old spark plugs I found one of them to have oil on it around the threading portion of it and a little puddle of oil by the top of the wires. So I put the new plugs and wires on and it seemed to have solved my problem. But lately it's starting to stutter again and I found another puddle of oil by the wires. So I'm pretty sure that the oil is fouling up one of the plugs causing it to stutter. I've been researching on here and I wanted to know if you guys think I need to replace the valve cover gasket or is it something else.

Everything else looks good, coolant, no cracks in the valve cover. I already ordered the valve cover gasket, but I just wanted to see if I was right. Any help would be appreciated. My name is Mike.

Re: valve cover gasket

Just a recommendation.... try the NGK BPR7ES plugs and gap them at about .027-.028 you will be happy....

Re: valve cover gasket

Its possible it could also be the oil cap too. But you'll know when you get your new valve cover gasket on. That is if your cover really isnt cracked...

Thumbs up

I changed the valve cover gasket and while I was changing it I saw how the old one was brittle and falling apart. And I also picked up a new oil cap also. Thanks guys.

Are you retarded? Not only did he already do that, but this thread is over a year old.
