94 Cutlass Supreme rumble in frt end

My son's 94 Cutlass Supreme has a strange noise in the front end, I suspect a wheel bearing or CV joint. It sounds like a electric motor or fan when cruising down the road, it's pretty noticeable, the noise speed up with the car speed and you can hear it all the way to nearly stopped. I checked the CV joints for looseness and wheel bearings but they don't seem loose that it's an obvious problem. When driving and turning the wheel to the left the noise gets a bit worse or stay about the same, when to the right, it quiets down, that leads me to think it's a CV joint, if a wheel bearing I'd think it would do it all the time. I lifted the front end and put it in gear up to 40 MPH but the noise is not there at all, so I guess the weight has to be on the car. Any ideas on how to determine what is causing this?

Thanks.

I solved my problem, it was a hub bearing, so if anyone has this same problem, a rumble in the front end, check the hub bearing, the CV joints usually don't go out and you can diagnose those by turning the wheel left and right and listening for clicking sounds.
