Question S15 transmission??

i just ordered an s15 sr20det with 25k miles on it. i'm not planning on doing a WHOLE lot of drifting. i was wondering if it should be ok, people say its weak, but only for drifters right? i dont want my tranny breaking while i'm going to the grocery store....

Yeah it is a perfectly good transmission. Some people say that the S15 6 speed tranny breaks about 350 hp but the blitz S15 silvia has about 420 hp and it is still using the stock tranny with no problem. so you should be fine

It is tru that with constant down shifting like drifters do, a S15 tranny wil break. That is the reason i went with a 5-spd S14 tranny on my car.I like to drift !

They just tend to break more than a S14 or S13 tranny would because since the S15 tranny is a 6 speed and it has closer gear ratios, the gears are thinner and therefore they are weaker. When stress is put on those weaker gears (such as in drifting) they will just tend to snap before a tranny from an S13 or S14 would.
