1995 s-10 lifters????

truck seems to be making a lot of noise, sounds like it comes from the valve train, like the lifters are ratling or something, could it be it needs adjusting, if so does anyone know how to do it,
its a 2.2

Re: 1995 s-10 lifters????

Sorry to say that there isn't any adjustment there, so if it's coming from the valve train you will probably need new lifters.
However don't pull the motor apart just yet. Look for an exhaust leak close to the head, they sound the same even to some long time mechanics.

Then try using a mechanics stethoscope to narrow down where the noise is coming from.

Just so that you know 90% of the Dodge - chrysler K cars have a lot of lifter noise. So if it sounds like a K car that'll probably be the problem.

Oh , I believe that you have to pull the head off to do the job, and since it's a 2.2L you should probably send it in to get inspected at the same tine (they're not the best chevy heads)

Might be the timing chain tensioner too.

Sounds like a timing chain is going bad, common problem on GM 2.2s even the cavalier/sunfire ones too.Get it fixed right away, all the valves bend if you do not catch it in time(1997 and down,1998 and up do not bend the valves).

what waf said, 98 and newers are redesigned non interference angle moters, 97 and elder are called interference moters, meaning that if the cam stops there isn't enough clearence between piston and valve, meaning theyll kiss, and that hurts the wallet
