mixing oil.

this is prolly a dumb question but would it hurt to mix oils? i used penzoil bout two months ago. now its two quarts low due to a leak i believe i have fixed. my question is does it matter what kinda oil i use to top it off?

Some oils may not be compatible with each other. If you HAVE to mix them, make sure they are the same weight.

You really shouldn't, though.

Oh, what's more stupid, is letting your oil get 2 quarts low. Do something before you destroy your engine.

wel im saying does mixing brands matter or what would you suggest for topping it off?

I suggest you get the same brand and weight oil that's already in there but take the bus before you completely obliterate your internals.

if it is two quarts low why not just do complete oil change since you lost half your oil. then you wouldn't have to worry about mixing

different weights isnt much of a deal, unless they are like way totally different. now oils have their own composition so i highly suggest not mixing different brands and definitely not mixing between conventional, synthetic blend, and/or full synthetic. keep it within its respective catagory and brand.

how long has it been since you changed the oil?
