Lookin at the Sentra or 200sx

I am looking into a 95-98 Sentra or 200 sx/se-r. I want a car fun to drive and good on gas. I could spend $25k on car but I really rather spend under $7 and have the car paid off in under a year. I need the car to be reliabe as it will be traveling 600 miles a week, good on gas and fun to drive. Is the 95-98 Sentra or the 200sx or the 200se-r (if I can find one) the car I should be looking at? Or should I spend the extra $$ and get an 01-03 Sentra or Spec V? whats the mpg on the Spec V?

you can snag an 03 spec for around 9-10k if you look hard, expect it to be beat on pretty hard unless you get lucky and snag one from one of these old ladies i see driving them, i have an 05 but it looks like you are in the same kind of situation i am in and the 330 a month payment is starting to piss me off

Check out one of these cars listed below. They all have the legendary SR20 motor. For your specific needs, I would recommend the 1999 Sentra SE-L, also known as the Sentra SE-Limited. It was only made in 1999 and is the only new-ish Sentra with a good SR20 motor. It's also the best looking Sentra ever, IMO. The 95-98 200sx SE-R will be the most fun car you can get for your needs. It's not too old, performs well, and has proven reliability. All Sentra's and 200SX's from 91-99 have been proven as the most reliable cars to come out of Nissan, beat out only by the 89-94 Maximas.

For a huge increase in power and, amazingly, better gas mileage too, get an SR20 car and have your local tuning shop replace the SR20DE(the motor that's in the car), with a Japanese SR20VE. You'll go from 140hp to nearly 200hp and improve your gas mileage by at least 3-4 mpgs.

2) 1991-1993 NX2000 [15.8]
3) 1995-1998 200sx SE-R [15.9]
4) 1999 Sentra SE-Limited(SE-L)[16.1]

7) 1999-2001 Infiniti G20 [17.0]

I really like the 200sx for the fun factor an the mpg. I like the sentra for the 4 door factor. Where can I get the Japanese motor from? The 200se-r is hard to find =( What year sentra and 200sx will this japanese motor fit? Im very new to imports. Thanks everyone

Also, like I said, I think the 99 Sentra SE-L is your best bet. It's like a 4-door 200sx SE-R, that looks better and is newer. Only a touch heavier.

What kind of gas mileage do you see on a Spec V?

Should be around 23city/29Hywy.

Also, 14.9 is at the very lowest end of a stock Spec's capabilities. An average time like the other ones listed would be more like 15.4 seconds. Good torquey fun though!
