th350

ok i have an 86 chevy k10. i had a 700r4 tranny in it but it failed so i replaced it with a th350. i put in the longer shaft along with an adapter plate to make it fit my transfer case. but now i am missing a gear. it seems to be 3rd to me but i have had three people drive it and they all seem to think it is missing a different one but it is for sure missing one. i recently rebuilt it putting all new seals on as well and checking all of the clutches and making sure they were in good condition. if anyone has had this problem before or may know what is wrong with it please let m eknow

Re: th350

I would look to the valve body, check balls, spool valves and such. Make sure the spool valves move freely (I once rebuilt a 4T60-E and didn't thoroughly clean one of the valves, it had one tiny little metal shard preventing a shift into reverse). Verify that the separator plate and separator plate gaskets are correct for that exact tranny. Let me know if that does it, if not, I might be able to come up with some more ideas. Sorry I can't be more helpful, it's been a while since I've rebuilt any transmissions.
