need help with crank
i just did an engine swap, from nonturbo to turbo,....when i got the engine running i noticed a loud tapping,...was bad,it was the rod bearing, when i opened it up the bearings were split, crank is chewed up,would i be able to replace the crank with my nonturbo crank?,.....i wanted to get it micro polished then change the rod and pistons, would that be ok? or should i stay stock if i have a stock crank?
please help me out before i spend money that doesnt have to be spent..... |

Re: need help with crank
The stock crank is about as stout as they come. Toyota overbuilds the bottom ends of their motors. I take it your crank is too far gone to be salvaged? I guess you will have to scare one up somewhere. The block and stroke don't change from NA to turbo, so the NA crank should fit. I can't say for sure though, I haven't really looked into it. I would pull the NA crank and take it down to the machine shop with you and check it for fit.
