my car starts with a penny.....
Holy cow, my friend was just messing around and he was able to start my car with a penny... so even if the ignition was messed up.. the car shouldn't start with a penny, and another thing even if i lock it and like force the ignition to turn all the way to the left, if i have anything metal and skinny that's long the car will start with it.. what is up with all that?

Re: my car starts with a penny.....
Sounds like the ignition switch is worn out, my 95 does the same thing except I have to have the key to unlock it, otherwise you can turn it on or off, even slide the key out.

Re: my car starts with a penny.....
Yup, sounds like the ole' switch is tired and worn out...... That problem crops up a lot when people have a mammoth amount of keys dangling on the keychain. Sounds crazy, but I just saw it on a tv show called "Motorweek". They talked to a locksmith who has replaced tons of ignition switches and he said the constant weight of all the keys, and the constant rocking of the ignition key in the ignition wears down the switch.
Not saying that caused your predicament.... just relaying what I saw on tv.... Take care everyone..... |
