Poll: What oil are you running?
Viscosity?
Tick or no tick? I haven't seen a thread listing the oils that everyone is using, and thought this would be helpful to newcomers as well as the regular's.

I use Napa 5w-30 which is the same as Valvoline. The only times I get ticking is when its due to be changed.

Re: Poll: What oil are you running?
I am currently using Valvoline Max-Life 5w 30. I like it for now, I may switch to synthetic, but if I don't this will be my oil for life.
For what it's worth, this is a good thread, maybe sticky worthy, so it doesn't die. I am always curious as to what others are using. |

Re: Poll: What oil are you running?
Amsoil 5W-30XL with Amsoil SDF filter. Hasn't blown up yet
![]() Tick is still evident, but motor has 86K+ miles with unknown maintenance history from PO who put 60K miles on it. Ran Amsoil engine flush twice so far. Tick is tolerable, but still present. Suvguy |

Re: Poll: What oil are you running?
97 Rodeo 2wd 2.6L 4cyl 5sp
Normally: 5w30 Penzoil Middle of LR summer:10w30 (It does break 100 deg here) Currently: Synthetic 5w30 (WalMart ran out of the regular stuff that day) If I understand what "tick" is, I only notice it at start-up after the fan noise dies down. I'll have to pay attention before I shut it off next time. I must say that "liquid ball-bearings" is the stupidest motto I've ever heard. McDonalds' "I'm lovin it" comes in a close second. |

Re: Poll: What oil are you running?
Right now Valvoline 10w-30 with an AC delco filter. Seems to be one of the best combo's I have tried so far. There was a light tick at first, because I had changed from Havoline, but now after 2000 miles on this oil, all is good. I plan to stick with it. 120k and kicken hard!!

1995 Passport...182k miles
Mobil Clean 5000 10w30 (it's Arizona man) Bosch Filter Had a very noticible LOUD tick...almost non-existant now. I work as a Construction manager so my truck takes quite a bit of abuse all day. It has some other problems but I am glad I don't sound like one of the diesels running around our construction site. |
