98, temp problem=
my friends deville is running a little hot. mechanics say he has blown head gasket or warped head. starting to lose coolant from unknown location. ain,t showing on oil dip stick or in coolant container yet. car was bought from used car lot. car has green style coolant in it. should he do the rebuilt head job ? car has about 90,000 miles on it now. we live in hurricane katrinaland and everyone around here is super serious about car upkeep nowadays. any advice will be appreciated. thanks.

Re: 98, temp problem=
He needs to price out the work after making sure that it actually is a blown headgasket, and then make a decision. If it is in fact a blown gasket, the heads don't get rebuilt per se, the engine is pulled, the heads are removed, inspected, the block is timeserted, and the heads are replaced using new gaskets. See www.timesert.com .
If the engine specific timeserts are not used, there is a good chance of premature failure of the repair. |
