FS: 6 bolt turbo motor

i really need to get rid of this engine. ive had about 3 people back out on me when it came time to pay.

heres the story on the motor:

2 years ago i put a rod through my original block in my 90 tsi, i replaced it with this one from another 90 tsi which had 57k when i installed it, ive put 29k on it since. the engine is in great shape, always changed the oil on time. the pistons had very small dents from the intake valves on the head it came with( i am selling the head which originally came with my car). this was no problem, i boosted this motor to 20psi with no issues.

the head is in great shape, its complete and has no burnt valves. it will need replacement of the exhaust cam gear, and unfortunately the exhaust manifold is cracked. it comes with the cam angle sensor, ngk iridiums with 15 miles and the valve cover. the block has the oil outlet for the oil cooler, i may still have the cooler around. im not positive but it will come with the engine if i find it. the oil cooler came only on the 90's.

im only looking to get $700 shipped for the complete motor. i will take offers!
if i sell the motor for $700 i will give with it a 60k mile evo III 16g.

You always need another engine laying around, you never know when you might need it.

I would buy it, but I just bought one, to bad you weren't around about 2 weeks ago that shit would have been sold.

Re: FS: 6 bolt turbo motor

bummer, I just checked my PM's and I never recieved it. Damn. that would have been much cheaper than the one I bought, but I'm not bitching. It looks like I will have my 6-bolt swap done for about $2200 total.

Will your motor be built after that much money or just a stock 6 bolt?

Re: FS: 6 bolt turbo motor

not really, when you figure SBR wants over a $1000 for there 2G install kit. I got everything I need, plus some minor upgrades on parts. I paid more for the motor than I should have, but I couldn't find one cheaper at the time that had everything on it. If I was to do it all over again, I would buy my motor from jdmsource.com.

What the heck do you need to put it in a 2g that costs 1000 bucks?

Don't you just have to do a little re-wiring and remove the one motor mount off the back of the motor?...

Re: FS: 6 bolt turbo motor

You need the following parts to swap a 6-bolt into a 2G. SBR sells this kit for $1400 on their web-site. you can piece all of this together for a couple hundred bucks.

If your going to swap this motor into your 2g, select the 2g option. This kit will add $1399 to the price and include:
ACT Flywheel
Mitsu Factory New Cam Sensor
1G Intake
Gasket Kit
Water Pipe / Water Outlet
Thermostat Housing
Timing Belt Cover
6 Bolt Oil Filter Housing

But if you find a 6 bolt that already has all that stuff then you won't need to buy it. And you don't "need" a 1g intake, as most 1g owners put a 2g intake on as an upgrade... I just find it to be a waste of 1400 bucks when you can find an entire motor with all that on it already... Is that ACT with it a 6 bolt or 7 bolt flywheel? And is the cam sensor an upgraded one for plug and play on a 2g or is it just another factory 1g cam sensor that will still need to be re-wired? Those are really the only two things I can justify as being "needed" for the swap...

Re: FS: 6 bolt turbo motor

ok first off, people dont use a 2g intake as an upgrade, they don't flow nearly as much as a 1G. hit www.vfaq.com and look at the comparison(its also why people swap the heads off of 1G to put on 2G the whole head flows better). secondly since this kit is for a 6-bolt swap it would obviously be a 6-bolt flywheel. the cam sensor is exactly what it says it is "new factory cam sensor" it is the style of 1G which will still need to be rewired for use in a 2G car. You also have to have a 6-bolt oil filter housing, preferably from a '90. Like i said in my previous post, you can piece this whole kit together for a couple hundred bucks. The motor I bought was a complete LB, with almost everything hanging on it for $1500(shipped), I spent about $600 more getting shit I wanted for it while it was out. Since it was a used motor I got a timing kit and water pump, solid motor mounts, fidanza flywheel, etc.

Oh I know the whole intake manifold and head flows better on a 1g. I thought you just meant the intake part from the filter to the turbo. And I wasn't sure about the flywheel because if you are bolting it up to a 2g tranny then I thought it might need a 7 bolt flywheel... The only reason I said all that was because I thought you actually bought that kit from SBR. I didn't know you had a LB with everything hangin off it still.

Re: FS: 6 bolt turbo motor

no its all cool, there is no way in hell that I would pay $1400 for that list of parts. That is what ebay is for. The people here on the forums helped me out with a couple things off of that list. I actually just got a call and the motor is arriving at my parents house tonight so I will be headed home this weekend to do the swap. I will try and get some pics, but do to time constraints Im not even considering a write up of the experience. I am happy with how much its costing me for the whole process. But I wish I could have found the jdmsource.com website before I bought my motor off of ebay. Then I would of had a motor, tranny, and turbo. The way it is I am only getting a LB, and possibly a turbo. But live and learn.
