s10 tach

hey whats up?
I was told that the tach wire on my 1996 s10 2.2 was a green wire. I hooked up a tach and used the only green wire on the coil packs, but the tach doesnt work. I was wondering do I have the right wire? if not does anybody know the color of the wire for hooking up a tach? or how to go about doing it?
Any help is greatly appreciated

Re: s10 tach

Welcome to AT shortyzkustomz,

I believe that you want it to go to a wire that pulses I would think either of the + coil wires would work. But what I would do if I was you is locate the tach wire under the dash (I wouldn't be suprised if you have 1 going all the way up to the dash plug) and just use that.

Sorry I didn't bring any books with me to where I live now so I can't look up the colour for you.

Re: s10 tach

There is a wire going into the dash connectors for the factory cluster with a tach. Here is a link to a tach discussion on s10forum.com http://www.s10forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50487
