I'm thinking of getting a 300Z as my third car, but the only problem is the car Im looking at has 120000 miles and I wanted to know how many miles do most of you guys have on yours and what probs have you had..the guy is selling for $4500 and he said the rotors are wasted and the power steering need replacement..what do you all think??
Thanks in advance!! |

that's too much for it, even if it's turbo. the engines hold up well over 200k if the owner takes care of it. I have 160k miles on mine and no problems

yeah henry is right, thats alittle bit much, i have 155k miles on mine, tell him to lower it to around 3000 at the most, because thats just crazy, pricing a Z that high when it has problems. Only go for the best quality, thats what i say.
If you need help on what to look for when buying a Z go here: http://www.z31.com/lookfor.shtml |

What kind of Z is it?
If it is a Z31 listen to the above but if it is a Z32 that isn't too bad. I bought my Z32 over spring break with over 155,000 on it and the only thing that I have had too fix was the bushings on the altinator (sp?) were not connecting right. Other then that it has been good. |

You are going to spend without a doubt more then that on
a Z32 (1990 and up) . I spent a little over 5,000 for mine (same model as yours) and I thought that I was getting a pretty good deal. |

UPDATE:
Well I talked the guy down to 4000, but theres a prob, I told him I wanted to run it on the expressway for a little and see how the engine was after. Well it ran fine, but the power seemed a little low. so after I ran it I looked under the hood and a big puff of smoke can out!!..The guy said it was the power steering fluid leak on the engine. I dont think so, has anyone had a prob like this?? |

I am no expert on this but I would think in order for a large puff of smoke to come out the leak would have to be pretty big.
I bought mine before getting it checked at a shop and then when I did get it checked I found that I had a oil leak and they said a steering fluid leak but I am guessing they meant brake fluid because that is what is leaking besides the oil. No smoke has ever come from my car at all, and my engine bay was VERY dirty with oil. (Before I cleaned it). What you do is really up to you but I would get it checked out at a garage before buying, it is worth the extra $40 or so to be sure then to buy a lemon and have it cost much more. Or you could just pass on it now and wait for another car. |
