at low speeds when applying light brake pressure there is a clicking noise coming from the driver side front wheel area. Our mechanic has already replaced the brake caliper on the drivers side turned the rotar, and done a front end inspection and can not find anything that looks like it would cause this noise. This noise only occurs when lightly applying the brakes at low speeds less than 20 mph. What could be causing this noise? HELP 97 chevy tahoe...100,000 miles..............

Re: front end clicking noise during light braking
I am bumping this up because I have the same problem with my 98 1/2 ton
2wd. After new rotors and pads I have this clunking noise. I did lube the heck out of everything this time around and I niticed that I can move the caliper quite a bit with my hands after tightening the bolts and. I was thinking of rebuilding the calipers but do I really need to replace? Thanks. |

Re: front end clicking noise during light braking
It is cheaper to buy unloaded reman calipers than it is to buy the rebuild kit and to it yourself.
Also did you check for movement after you put preasure back on the brake system. It could also be the rubber bushings and/or sleeve are wore out.

Re: front end clicking noise during light braking
Yes I did. I also had my son push the brakes and I could slightly rotate the wheel back an forth and could feel it clunking. I'll replace calipers this weekend. Thanks for your help.
