Canadian daytime running lights - resistor
Just bought a 1996 trans sport with daytime running lights that do not work. I am trying to locate the resistor to check wiring before replacing it. Is there a way to bypass it without causing wiring problems?
Also where is the photoelectric sensor that the user manual says not to cover up? Thanks. |

Mine has not worked since new, thought it was a fuse, I can tell you the sensor is under the drivers side speaker grille. If you find the solution let me know.
Thanks |

HI,
My running lights have always worked, but they used to come on way to easily. I actually took off the dashboard and cut a hole in the left speaker cover to let the light get to the sensor. That helped a lot. This was quite a while ago and for me if I disconnected the sensor the lights were always on(i think). I cant complain about the running lights, I guess I was lucky. |

My daytime running lights dont work at all. But when I go under a bridge or it gest dark the come on automaticly. Do you think if I did the same my daytime lights will come on or do you think there is another problem.

Did you buy the vehicle new in Canada? Is it possible you have a U.S. model where the running lights may not of been standard equipment. I guess you would know by the speedometer being in kilos.
There are also may be something wrong with the switch on the parking brake, as when the brake is on, the lights dont come on. I think this includes the running lights. Other than the parking brake switch I dont know. good luck. |

Funny thing though, there is supposed to be a fuse for the daytime running lights, but there is none. I bought the Van as a GM certified used veicle. I guess that is what probably happened. But why is GM selling there Us models in Canada. I have noticed in my town there are a very large number of these vans. Maybe the dealer got a load from the US.

Re: Canadian daytime running lights - resistor
Wow! This thread is still going.
What took you so long, I dropped it off at the auto wrecker in December of 2004. Worst thing I ever got rid of. What makes it so bad is the dealers and GM that stands behind the theives. I say let the buggers sleep togeather and go down togeather. They deserve each other. I am so tired of the BS games they play on the consumer. No more Gm in my drive way. I have been screwed over by GM and their partner Dealer Stealers.
